OUR PARENTS DO IMPACT US AS ADULTS
As a parent, there will be days when you question if you’re capable of raising your child to be the best they can be and there will be days when you’re proud of yourself and the progress your child has made. Throughout each of these days, it is important to remind yourself that parenting isn’t only about your child, it is about the connection you and your child share. That connection can take many different forms and can be shaped and molded due to past experiences in your life.
Unresolved issues from the past can prevent adults from moving forward in their lives.
Over the years, research findings have shown the importance of the parent/child relationship as it relates to forming secure attachments throughout the years and the long-lasting impact on behaviors and relationships.

It is always a good idea for Parents to provide a
secure and safe space!
for children/teens to share with them. If this does not happen, children usually have difficulty understanding their own emotions and the feelings of others.
As an adult, they struggle with self-esteem issues, addictions, and developing healthy relationships.

Postpartum Depression (after childbirth)
Maybe it's not the Baby Blues!!!
Life is made up of moment after moment, and experience after experience. If you are not able to be fully happy after the birth of your newborn, then you may be experiencing Postpartum Depression. A woman could have had her first child and bounced back in a few weeks, but the next could leave her spiraling down a hole of shame, fear, or self-loathing without a clue of how to recover.
You may find yourself drifting in unfamiliar waters. Postpartum, Depression, or Anxiety have been stigmatized and shamed through ignorance in such a way that many women sufferings from it become afraid to step up and reach out for help.
If living in an unsupported home you can be told that there is nothing wrong with you, or even judged and attacked for having negative feelings and thoughts after bringing your child into the world. You struggle emotionally and it feels like you have a mental war on your hands, and after so many internal battles you are left with open wounds. Instead of seeking out help, many allow the ignorance and stigmatization of others to guilt and shame them from ever vocalizing the things that they are going through. If this sounds like you then you may be living pretending as if everything is alright when they are truly suffering day to day.
It is important that you understand that these feelings, thoughts, and emotions are normal because you have brought new life into the world conceptually, but physically your body has gone through a very traumatic experience.
