COUNSELING VERSUS COACHING
Counseling and Coaching are similar but should not be confused as the same. Both practices use an understanding of human behavior and interactive techniques but maintain differing levels of professional responsibility, focus, and intensity.
COUNSELING
- Counseling is a psychology specialty aimed at helping patients cope with psychological issues and achieve optimal well-being.
- Counseling offers a safe space to discuss often painful or difficult issues. Doing it alone can make things even more challenging.
- Counseling encourages the positive and constructive exploration of various potential resolutions to daily personal struggles and challenges.
- Counseling involves focusing on past experiences, mental health conditions, and other personal concerns.
- Seeking help is not a weakness; it is a positive step. Jill provides short- and long-term counseling for adults and couples facing various challenges.

COACHING
- Coaching is a specific, goal-oriented process that normalizes personal development and supports clients in becoming who they aspire to be.
- Coaching empowers individuals and couples to build their confidence through action, enabling them to accomplish short-term tasks while a trained coach offers support. The coach assists coaches in facilitating change through lifestyle adjustments, planning, and execution.
- Coaching does not involve diagnosis. However, as a licensed professional counselor and marriage and family therapist, Jill White-Huffman must adhere to confidentiality laws and is bound by mandated reporting obligations.
- Coaching can be meaningful and productive in all areas of your life if past issues have been appropriately addressed and you’re ready to move forward!
